Meaning in Madness
The Book: Wander Woman: How High-Achieving Women Find Contentment and Direction
Why Read It? Author Marcia Reynolds realized that today's personal growth books for women, so focused on empowerment and encouragement, don't help the new generation of high achievers. These women wander about aimlessly, trapped in a restless cycle of perfectionism, where good is never good enough.
The Bottom Line: As the old saying goes, not all who wander are lost. Instead of stumbling around without purpose, this work guides women to move with intent and direction so that they may find their way toward greater happiness regardless of their particular aims and goals.

Why Read It? Author Alex Pattakos was a confidant and friend of Viktor Frankl's. Through their work together, Alex realized that many of the concepts that Viktor taught us to find meaning in our personal lives could be applied to finding meaning in our work lives, as well.
The Bottom Line: The first edition of this book was an international bestseller. This revised second edition features new stories and examples of people who have applied the principles in the book or who exemplify them; new practical exercises and applications; and a new chapter, "The Meaning Difference."

Two Lists to Ponder
In this issue of the Communiqué, we explore how to find meaning and peace in the midst of chaos and turbulence from two different points of view, as represented by the books featured above. As a result, we offer two author lists for this issue:
1. Marcia Reynolds lays out The Five Core Assumptions That Lock Women into Rigid Perfectionist Patterns.
2. Alex Pattakos presents The Five Ways We Can Find Meaning in Setbacks and Problems at Work.

Neal Maillet Joins the Clan
We are thrilled to announce that Neal Maillet has joined BK as the executive editor. Neal was formerly the publisher at Timber Press and also worked as an editor at Jossey-Bass. Prior to working at Jossey-Bass, Neal traveled the world as an animal trainer with a Ukrainian circus.
Okay, that last statement might not be true. In any case, we're excited to have Neal on board and if you're so inclined, feel free to drop him a line to welcome him into the clan. (But please don't ask him about that incident.)

Last time, I issued this challenge. Michael J. Lytle won by being first to send me the correct answer. That's not actually Michael in the photograph to the right, but because he forgot to send me a picture of himself, I have taken the liberty of guessing what I think he looks like. Let's see how close I was when he does get around to sending me a photograph.
This issue's challenge can be found here.
Email me with any comments or rants. Also, does it bother you that everybody on television reads the exact same newspaper?
Were you able to figure out this weird puzzle? Excellent! But please tell me what this strange site is all about.

P.S. -- this isn't real, is it?
P.P.S. -- don't forget about that live Web cast of the shareholder meeting on July 1 at 9:00 am PST. You can even email me and ask for a reminder to be sent to you the evening before.
